Main Street Thoroughbred owned mare Miss Glaring produced what we hope is the first of many winners for the organization. Her 2 year old gelding Franchise Maker toyed with a Maiden 20K field going a mile to win easy. Miss Glaring was the second mare purchased by our ownership team and Franchise Maker is the first foal produced by MSTG to win!!

Cajun Charlie wins $150,000 Legacy Stakes

Cajun Charlie a 2 year old by Afternoon Deelites out of Cigar Charlie captured his first stakes victory by going wire to wire and winning the 1 mile Louisianan Legacy Stakes at Delta Downs. Cajun Charlie by Afternoon Deelites out Cigar Charlie broke his maiden 0n 10/19/2011 at Delta Downs. Our weanling Charlies Tornado by Sequoyah out Cigar Charlie is a beautiful chestnut currently at the farm. Look for her in 2013! Cigar Charlie is currently in-foal to Sequoyah.

Norman G by Maverick out of Dust Devil David broke his maiden on 10/29/2011 at Delta Downs. We just put yearling Sequoyah's Key by Sequoyah out of Dust Devil David into training. Dust Devil David is currently in-foal to Maverick.

We have two very special looking fillies "Miss Kandaly" (rearing up above) and Charlie's Tornado are spectacular looking young ladies. They are both very athletic, smart and well bred.

This morning at 4 am cst a beautiful filly by Eugene's Third Son - DreamsandPromises was born. She is a very tall dark bay filly with an off-set diamond on her forehead.

On Sunday Morning 3/13/2011 at 4 am a beautiful filly by Kandaly - Miss Glaring was born. She is dark bay filly with a circle on her forehead.

Cigar Charlie foals filly

With foaling season in full swing Cigar Charlie foals the second baby of the year the farm. The filly born 2/24/2011 is by Sequoyah and is doing just fine. We are very excited about this filly as Cigar Charlie is a quality broodmare and this is Sequoyah's second crop.

Secretariat is my Great Grandfather

Our 2010 colt by Rainmaker-Twilight Tango is spitting image of his great grandfather Secretariat and has become quite a force in pasture. He is spunky and does not back away from the big boys in pasture.

Let's hope he gets some of the stamina his grandfather had as well as his heart and determination.

Look for him in the 2012 Louisiana Futurity at the New Orleans Fairgrounds!!

As of this morning we had our third and final foal of 2010. We had a colt by Rainmaker, and two fillies by Golden Slew. We have been fortunate to have healthy and correct babies since we began breeding horses four years ago. I will be posting additional pictures as soon as they are available.

Our first foal of 2010! What a long legged little filly. Shown here with her mother Zopic, she was sired by Golden Slew, we are looking for big things from this newest addition to our family. We are expecting another Golden Slew baby next month.

It appears we could have our first baby on the ground within two weeks. Zopic in foal to Golden Slew is due February 21th. Zopic produced Captain James by Leestown in 2008. He began training Jan. 15, 2010.

In March we should have two more babies: One from Twilight Tango in foal to Rainmaker and My KP in foal to Golden Slew.

It should be an exciting time for owners and animals for the next several months.

(BK's Glaring and Normarae's Payday)

What a year 2009 was for our team. We have a great yearling crop (two Fillies and two Colts) all well bred, athletic, and good conformation. We are very excited about 2010 as we will be breeding all our mares to Kandaly and have booked several additional mares to the Louisiana Legend.

We begin 2010 a much different operation than we began 2009. In 2010 we will support all aspects of the thoroughbred business. Our first two homebreds will begin racing under the Sugar Cane Stables silks, Kandaly will provide Stallion Services, and we will participate in the Yearling Sales in September. This is the culmination of 4 years of hard work of our entire organization.

Thanks to all our partners, vendors and supporters in making this a reality.

New Home for our Mares and Babies

Main Street Thoroughbred Group has moved their merry band of horses to the all new Sugar Cane Stables off Arsene LeBleu Road in Lake Charles. After evaluating all alternatives, we decided to end our relationship with Cal-Cam Horse Farm and move all our animals directly under the supervision of Becky White at Sugar Cane Stables.

This is a very exciting time for all of us as this should afford us the luxury to continue to grow while continuing to invest in our facilities.

Broodmare Contingent Keeps Growing

Main Street is proud to announce the acquisition of another great looking broodmare to our family. My K P a 6 year old mare by My Mike & Brents Diamond. She has a beautiful foal by Golden Slew at her side. The foal needs a minor hernia procedure which will be performed within a week.

This brings our 2009 foal count to 4. Two Awesome Storm Day Colts, a powerful looking filly by Rainmaker and a beautiful filly by Golden Slew.

2009 has been a great breeding season for Main Street and provide an awesome platform for our future efforts. Our partners at Sugar Cane Stables should be extremely pleased as their pipeline for the future is overflowing with great prospects.

Trick Er Treat Filly arrives at Cal-Cam

Our 4 month old Trick Er Treat Filly by Rainmaker shown here is a striking looking baby. We are very proud to have her in our second crop of babies. She's big - very big for 4 months! I was quite impressed after spending time with her over the weekend. She represents a great opportunity for our shareholders in Sugar Cane Stables as well a future mother for The Main Street Group.

Miss Glaring is back at Cal-Cam after a 17 day stay with Delta Equine Hospital. She encountered a fungal eye infection at the hoof of her baby colt. We are thinking about naming him Bruce Lee! We were able to save her eye but its to early to tell if we saved her sight.

1994 Louisiana Derby Winner Kandaly shown here has progressed amazingly under the care Jared Daugherty at Cal-Cam Farm. When he came to the farm 90 days ago, he was a wreck but today he is strutting around like a 3 year old Colt.

We are proud to announce that he will stand full-time in 2010 at Cal-Cam Farm! This is truly exciting for our entire team.

Syrup N Biscuits has checked in Foal to Kandaly and we've also bred Trick er Treat to him. We should have results for Trick Er Treat by the end of June.

Our newest member to the Main Street Team is Carbon Blue he is an amazing looking 2 year old colt who we purchased via a private sale. He will spend a month or two hanging out at Cal Cam Farms preparing for his racing debut. He is already broke and Famous Amos Laborde would like to have him in training today. As he is a very big two year old we'd like to give him a little more time to mature. With this purchase we have completed our short-term goals as well solidified our long-term goals.

Captain James and BK'S Glaring are developing nicely, the pair of yearlings are our first official crop of homebreds and should offer the shareholders of Sugar Cane Stables a solid foundation for the next couple of years. Captain is the Bay and BK is the gray!! These two were born less than a month apart and have been playing ever since.

Its been a great season for us at MSTG, this morning Miss Glaring foal a great looking Colt out of Storm Day. This gives us a filly out of Rainmaker, and two colts out of Storm Day. So to recap our future is very bright. We've got a three year old gelding out of Promissory who is currently in Training. A two year old filly out of Private Terms who is at Cal-Cam Farm in light conditioning. A yearling colt out of Leestown, A yearling Filly out of Dr. Best, the three babies of 09 and hopefully six healthy babies in 2010. Wow!

Twilight Tango Delivers a big Colt

Twilight Tango produced an amazing looking colt today at the farm. I will be posting new pictures as soon as they arrive. Everyone who has seen the colt including our vet proclaims he's got all the goods. The general consensus is "he's a very big colt with great conformation". This is a very exciting day for Main Street as now we've got colts from the two major blood lines we intend to build our long-term breeding program around. Many thanks to Jared Daugherty of Cal-Cam Horse Farm for his outstanding attention to the mares.

We've got one more baby on the way, Miss Glaring is also in Foal to Storm Day and is expecting in about 3 weeks. Check back for additional updates.

Kandaly arrives at Cal-Cam

Kandaly winner of the 1994 Louisiana Derby at the New Orleans Fairground arrived today at Cal-Cam Horse Farm in Lake Charles Louisiana. Jared Daugherty was very excited about having the opportunity to work with Kandaly for the next few months. He needs some rehabilitation, exercise and a little r & r. Having the run of the farm should really suit the Louisiana Legend.

Kandaly is owned by Mrs. Karlton Cole of New York. If all goes well Kandaly progeny will again someday compete at the highest levels on the Louisiana circut.

New Arrivals on the way

Although Twilight Tango and Miss Glaring have not foaled at the farm, we did make room for the arrival of some new members to our family. Over the weekend we purchased Trick er Treat and her new 7 week old filly foal. We will be awaiting their arrivals within the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for pictures and additional information.

In other news Main Street Thoroughbred Group and Cal Cam Horse Farm are working on a program that could bring a Louisiana Legend to the farm for much needed rest and relaxation. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to help and support our racing hero's! More to come on this exciting opportunity.

In breeding news, Zopic is currently at Jack Herberts AllStar Farms in Sulphur and is being bred to Golden Slew (an amazing son of Seattle Slew) Golden Slew is over 17 hands and is an awesome looking stallion.

Twilight Tango is expecting any day. She is in foal to Storm Day who is currently Ranked #6 among all Louisiana Sires and has a Stakes winner to his credit already in 2009. We are extremely excited about this mare as she is the spitting image of the last great Super Horse "Secretariat". A colt would mean us having future sire lines of both Secretariat and Seattle Slew. TT has already produced a winner in her career and we are hoping she will deliver a bunch more.

Promissory Kid shows big Promise down at the farm! The 3 year old Colt is out of second crop Sire Promissory who's progeny have made him second on the sire list for 2009 in Louisiana. Kiddo as he's known is working out getting ready for his next stop "the track".

Although he is not a homebred of Main Street Thoroughbred Group we are extremely excited about the opportunity to offer him as the first racing prospect. His story is quite remarkable and the fact he's doing so well is a testament to a few people. Jason White found the colt as 2 year old who had some health issues as the result of improper early development. He acquired the colt and began working with him in the round pen. After a couple of months he was sent to Donald Baltazar for the next level of conditioning. For the last two months he's been under the care of Jared Daugherty, during this time his progress has been unbelievable. Thanks to everyone on the team for all their hardwork.
